Merry Christams Post by Filippo Pellegrini

Hello and welcome back to a Christmas post!

This is my last post of the year!
Although you might think this post just talks about me telling you: "merry christmas!", this post may also suggest some things you may consider doing at Christmas. Let me show you some stats:

Most popular presents:

Clothing (56%)

Gift Cards (44%)

Toys (37%)

Books and videogames (31%)

Food and candy (29%)

Time for Fun Facts!

Did you know that the most unwanted Christmas gifts are clothing and accessories?

Did you know that Christmas Day isn't actually Christ's birthday? In the Holy Bible, there is no mention that the 25th of December is the date of Jesus' birthday. In fact, this date was established by the Romans.

Did you know that Santa Claus is now 1750 years old? He was named after Saint Nick's nickname 'Sinter Klaas' which was short for 'Sint Nikolaas' (St. Nicholas). He was known for gift giving and the tradition got passed by Saint to Saint.

Did you know that some astronauts broadcasted the song 'Jingle Bells' in space? Astronauts Wally Schirra and Tom Stafford played that song 9 days before the 1965 Christmas.

5 fun things to do in Christmas season❄️Isabella and Mia

                                                                           ❄️πŸŽ…πŸŽ„
Are you ever laying around in your house thinking"aww man I'm so bored''? well this article is just for that. Here are a few fun actives for Christmas time!

Building gingerbread houses is a fun creative holiday activity where friends/family decorate gingerbread pieces (often pre-baked) to create small houses. It's a hands-on craft that normally  involves assembling the house using icing as "glue" and decorating it with candies, sprinkles, and other edible items!

Try Ice Skating. During the holiday season, outdoor rinks pop up everywhere—even in places with no snow! Whether you're new to skating or experienced, it's a fun way to enjoy the festive time with music, lights, and hot cocoa. Some rinks even have special events or lessons. So, go and enjoy a season on ice!

Decorating a Christmas tree is a beloved tradition where families gather to create holiday cheer. After setting up the tree, lights, garlands, tinsel, and ornaments are added, many with special meaning. A star, bow or angel tops the tree, a tree skirt finishes the look. It’s a joyful activity that brings families together and fills the home with warmth and festive spirit.

Making Christmas cards is a fun, personal way to spread holiday cheer. Simply gather supplies like cardstocks, markers, and embellishments, choose a theme, and get creative with your design. Add a thoughtful message inside, and you’ve got a unique card to share!

And the last fun thing to do is Christmas baking!Tou can make any sweet treat add a Christmas element to make it extra festive and it will look amazing, and once you bake you treats you can share with family friends and others!

Last week of school

This week is THE LAST WEEK OF SCHOOL! People are getting ready to leave the school and go on their 2 week long winter holiday. Others have already left the school, and are enjoying a longer holiday with family and friends. This Friday, which is the 20th, is a half day. The first two periods will be normal, and after break there will be a christmas assembly with members of the "Addams Family" musical. We will come back on the 8th of January, which is a Wednesday. Teachers come back to school the day before, to get the building ready. But now, we shouldn't be worrying about this, because we have two entire weeks to celebrate christmas and New Years Eve. For now, we should enjoy the celebrations carefreely.

New Skating rink and Christmas Village Event at Siena's Fortezza!!! By NiccolΓ² Brandani

Siena's skating rink opened again at the Fortezza! It is an amazing time for skating and it is really recommended for family, friends and couples because of the beautiful atmosphere and the fun that you can have skating with your friends, family or love.

Plus this year Siena wants to do things in big, so they decided to make the Christmas Village Event! In this event there will be elfs, Santa's house, the Bakery Factory and the laboratory of the gnomes. With these attractions there will also be a Mini Golf, a Baby Area, Adventure Course and the cotton candy machine.

The skating rink will be open from 10-13 and also from 16-24 and The bakery and the laboratory will be open from 10-13 and also from 16-20.

The event+skating rink will run from December 8th-January 6th.

Secret Santa! by NiccolΓ² Brandani

During December 2024, all homerooms students will have the choice to do Secret Santa to each other! Secret santa is a not obligatory activity in which students will put their name in a card, and then on a hat, then every student will pick  a card and then anonymously with a budget of 10 euros, do a present for the person that is written in the card. It is a fun activity in which it shows that people can show empathy to others. Plus, this activity also shows that classes aren't only a bunch of people together in a room, but a solid group that can do anything together.

NEW Door Competition: Winter Wonderland by Filippo Pellegrini

Welcome to a Christmas Post!
Today I am talking about the new Door Competition based on "Winter Wonderland" which is going to end tomorrow (the 13th December)!!!
Hint:
Try to take examples from online images and then create your own class door with your fantasy and imagination! These are some images that I found on the internet:

This competition is based on making your homeroom door based on recycled materials. As you probably know the theme is Winter Wonderland and the doors will be judged in the form of high/elementary school and viceversa. This means that the Pyp will vote the Myp and the Myp will vote the Pyp.
So hurry on making your (hopefully wonderful) class door because the doors are going judged just tomorrow!

These are the doors that have been most completed till now:

🎭The Addams family show!By Isabella Pavia

What does this show talk about?

This show talks about the known "Addams Family" composed by many characters: Wednesday, Pugsley (they added a twin brother for him called Hubert), Morticia, Gomez, The grandma, Fester, Lucas Beineike, Alice Beineke, Mal Beineike and Lurch, and a group of ancestors.

It talks about their life and how they live. Mrs. Lynch and Mrs. Hendry have worked really hard so the whole show could happen and they have done an amazing job.

I personally think that the show on the 13th and the 14th is going to be grand.

How can we support the students working on it?

A lot of students have been staying late at school to work on it Monday and Wednesday, they are even giving up their Saturdays and they are doing an amazing job. As I said Mrs. Lynch, Mrs. Hendry and Mrs. Marcella are working on it and they are doing a marvelous job. We can support these students by buying the tickets that are on sale in the lobby, even for one day they would really appreciate it.

I interviewed one of the "ancestors" to see how it's going:

Interview with Filippo Pellegrini:

"Everything is going good and everyone is working hard to reach they're full potential, the hardest part is learning my lines because I can get confused sometimes saying someone elses lines.

My favorite character is Gomez because in my opinion he is funny and one of the main characters and Brieuc is really good at playing him.

So overall it is going nicely, I really like how it's coming out and I think that the show is going to be amazing"

Kindness Rocks Project of Grade 8 by Carlo Alberto di Meco

Kindness Rocks project of grade 8

The kindness rocks project are painted rocks with supporting messages or designs that are left in places where lots of people go to find and enjoy the reading. The goal is to spread kindness and happiness through the community. This amazing invention took place in 2015 by Megan Murphy, and has now began to spread around the world. Megan invented this idea after experiencing the loss of her parents. She created this because she realized how small acts of kindness could change the feelings of someone. This activity could be done by every aged person and can be read by everyone.

The grade 8 students have participated in this project as part of their Service as Action. We coloured the rocks and wrote lovely messages on them, for example "If you're kind and polite, the world will be right." Then we took the rocks and left them outside in public places or gardens. This activity was very fun and entertaining. It is also an easy and fast way to make a positive difference to the community. We are excited to see how this turns out and we look forward to doing even more through the year.

How did we create this project?

Creating this project is pretty easy:

step 1 - Find some medium sized rocks, possibly flat so you could write there easily.

step 2 - Colour the whole rock

step 3 - write a message on it and leave it in a park or place were a lot of people go

Photography competition by George Fousekis

New competition: Photography!

What is going on?

This week in assembly, Student Council announced that there would be a photography contest every month, from now until the end of the school year. The entire school is included in this new event and the winner will get an undefined, but huge (according to Student council) prize. There will be different themes for each month, and the one for December is a photo of Tuscan winter. Each theme will not be certainly related to the season (summer doesn't neccesarily have to be tuscan summer) so this can me more unpredictable and fun. The photos taken can be sent to Mr Woods or Mr Bruce, and will then be judged by student council, who will try to keep it fair and un-biased.
